Marshall - Thomas

The death of Thomas Marshall in Washington on Monday, removes  one of the prominent men of Indiana. He served his state well as  governor, and later filled the rather trying position of  vice-president with a chief with whom he was not in sympathy. He  was not a seeker for political distinction and both places were  in a manner thrust upon him. He was a lawyer of great ability,  and his greatest satisfaction was in the practice of his chosen  profession. As a trustee of Wabash College he has been intimately  connected with educational matters. His death at the  comparitively early age of seventy one is to be regretted. - transcribed by kbz
